Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Going Vintage, a young adult novel by Lindsey Leavitt, will be adapted for film.
Deadline confirmed Wednesday that Imagine Kids & Family has acquired the rights to the teen romantic comedy.
Going Vintage follows Mallory, a 16-year-old girl who discovers her "perfect" boyfriend is cheating on her with an online girlfriend. She swears off boys and modern technology and sets out to fulfill her grandmother's teenage bucket list.
Leavitt confirmed the news in a tweet Wednesday.
"Big news!" the author wrote.
Variety said Kara Holden (Carrie Pilby, Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life) will adapt Going Vintage for film. Imagine Kids & Family president Stephanie Sperber will produce the project with Nancy Steingard and Wendy Moss-Klein.
"I fell in love with this story immediately upon reading the book," Sperber said in a statement. "The idea of a teen from today giving up all things modern and dressing & living as if it was 1962, is a terrific hook to a sweet romantic story about finding love and understanding your family."
Recent Imagine films include The Beatles: Eight Days a Week -- The Touring Years, The Spy Who Dumped Me and Pavarotti. The company also has a Nickelodeon series in the works and a deal with author James Patterson.
