May 25 (UPI) -- Slumdog Millionaire and Trust director Danny Boyle has signed on to helm the 25th James Bond caper, the film's producers confirmed Friday.

"We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th installment of the franchise. We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and thrilled that Universal Pictures will be our international distributor," producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said in a joint statement.

The as-yet-untitled, British spy movie is to be released in the United Kingdom on Oct. 25, 2019 and in the United States on Nov. 8, 2019.

Boyle's Trainspotting collaborator John Hodge is writing the screenplay for the EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios film.

Craig, 50, has been playing secret agent 007 since 2006. He has appeared in the Bond blockbusters Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.
