'Maze Runner' tops the North American box office with $23.5M

Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Maze Runner: The Death Cure is the No. 1 movie at the North American box office this weekend, earning $23.5 million in receipts, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with $16.4 million, followed by Hostiles at No. 3 with $10.2 million, The Greatest Showman at No. 4 with $9.5 million and The Post at No. 5 with $8.9 million.

Rounding out the top tier are 12 Strong at No. 6 with $8.6 million, Den of Thieves at No. 7 with $8.4 million, The Shape of Water at No. 8 with $5.7 million, Paddington 2 at No. 9 with $5.6 million and Padmaavat at No. 10 with $4.3 million.
