April 5 (UPI) -- Susan Sarandon is setting the record straight on her rumored feud with "Stepmom" co-star Julia Roberts.

The 70-year-old actress denied this week on Twitter that she and Roberts "hated each other" on the set of the 1998 movie.

"Press printed that Julia & I hated each other during Stepmom. Found out it was my PR person creating rumors," she tweeted Sunday, adding a link to a 1998 interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"If you make a movie with a male star, everyone assumes you're [expletive]. If it's a female star, everyone assumes you're fighting," Sarandon told the publication at the time.

"Actually, Susan and I were kinda hoping that people would say we were [expletive]," Roberts wryly added. "Now that's delicious cocktail-party fodder. But this? Boring."

Sarandon plays Bette Davis on the FX series Feud, which explores the famous rivalry between Davis and Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange). The actress also commented Sunday on her relationship with Lange.

"The #1 question I get in interviews is whether Jessica & I get along. Jess & I not only got along great during filming, we're now dating," she jokingly tweeted.

"...I mean, staying in touch. She's one of the reasons I agreed to do the series. Working with brilliant actors only makes you better. #FeudFX," the star wrote.

Feud: Bette and Joan airs Sundays on FX.
