Hailee Steinfeld stuns at 'The Edge of Seventeen' premiere

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The Edge of Seventeen star Hailee Steinfeld stunned on the red carpet Wednesday.

The 19-year-old actress attended the movie's Los Angeles premiere at the Regal L.A. Live theater.

Steinfeld turned heads in a floor-length, sheer black gown with floral embroidery, diamond cutouts and a beaded belt and cuffs. The star complemented her look with dramatic cat eye makeup and a half-updo.

Kyra Sedgwick, Blake Jenner, Haley Lu Richardson, Hayden Szeto and director Kelly Fremon Craig also attended the event. The movie also co-stars Woody Harrelson, Eric Keenleyside and Katie Stuart.

The Edge of Seventeen follows a high school junior (Steinfeld) who develops an unexpected friendship with an awkward classmate (Szeto) after her brother (Jenner) starts dating her best friend (Richardson).

"This girl goes through experiences I totally went through, where it felt like it was the absolute end of the world," Steinfeld said in the September issue of Seventeen. "Just having so many moments where you question who you are and what it is that you're good at and what you feel good in."

The Edge of Seventeen opens in theaters Nov. 18. Steinfeld, known for True Grit, Ender's Game and Pitch Perfect 2, is also slated for Pitch Perfect 3 with Anna Kendrick and Anna Camp.
