Ben Affleck on 'Batman v Superman': 'I loved it'

WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Ben Affleck has shared his thoughts on the critically panned but high-grossing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice admitting that he loves it.

"It's interesting: It was a huge hit movie — more people went to see that than any movie I've made in my career. It was the biggest hit of my career and then it had so much editorial negativity," the actor said of the superhero epic in an interview with Fox 5 DC while promoting his latest film, The Accountant.

"Fans went, and I got a lot of positive response. It was interesting, that movie, because it was judged not necessarily on execution so much as on its tone. People seemed to want to have a lighter tone to the movie, and I thought that was interesting. Tone is not a qualitative thing. It's subjective, right?" Affleck continued.

"Some tones resonate with me that might not with you. And the tone of the movie was really parallel to the Frank Miller book [The Dark Knight Returns], which I liked and thought was great. I'm glad that so many people went and so many people liked the movie. I liked it. I loved it," he concluded referencing DC Comics' classic comic book series which featured a much more brutal and violent Batman as seen in Dawn of Justice.

Affleck's comments come after negative reviews also plagued Warner Bros. following entry in their DC Extended Universe, Suicide Squad where he appeared briefly as The Dark Knight.

Warner. Bros. and DC will continue to weather the critical storm however, releasing both Wonder Woman and Justice League in 2017. In the meantime, Affleck is also preparing a solo Batman film with noted comic book writer Geoff Johns who recently confirmed that Joe Manganiello would be portraying villain Deathstroke in the project.

While filming Justice League, Affleck caused a stir on social media when he posted a video featuring Deathstroke staring menacingly at the camera as he sported his signature blue and orange armor.
