LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Jon Favreau is set to reprise his Iron Man role as Happy Hogan in Sony and Marvel's upcoming superhero epic, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

According to The Wrap, Favreau will be seen tagging alongside Iron Man, aka Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), as his driver and bodyguard, just as he did in the solo Iron Man films.

Downey was cast in the film after Iron Man introduced and mentored Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War.

Happy Hogan was last seen in Iron Man 3 where he had become head of security for Stark Industries until he was sent to the hospital following an attack.

Favreau notably kick-started the Marvel cinematic universe having directed the first films in the ongoing Avengers saga, Iron Man and Iron Man 2. He last directed box-office smash, The Jungle Book.

The 49-year-old is the latest to join Homecoming's ensemble cast which also includes Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Michael Keaton as the main villain and Zendaya who is potentially portraying the webslinger's iconic girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson.
