Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill celebrate 'Star Wars: Episode VIII' wrap on social media

LONDON, July 14 (UPI) -- Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill have taken to social media to celebrate the end of principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VIII.

"And that is a wrap on Star Wars: Episode VIII. My heart is brimming. #reyout," Ridley wrote on Instagram Wednesday alongside a photo of her character Rey standing with her eyes closed as she holds a blue lightsaber.

"Saying goodbye is hard when you've had the time of your life. I can't thank the cast and crew enough, I couldn't have done it without you. Loads of love, mh #StarWars #EpVIII #WrapParty," Hamill said on Instagram a day before, sharing a photo of the colorful wrap party that took place at the Natural History Museum in London after principal photography had ended.

The highly-anticipated sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens directed by Rian Johnson, is due in theaters Dec. 15, 2017.

Hamill also shared on Facebook a video from the wrap party that featured a group of dancing Stormtroopers who performed dance hits including Silento's "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), Psy's "Gangnam Style," and Beyonce's "Single Ladies." "These guys (& girls) were AMAZING! ‪#‎EPVIIIWrapParty‬ ‪#‎TheEmpireShakesItsBooty‬ ‪#‎SexyStormtroopers‬," he captioned the clip.

In June, Hamill addressed death rumors surrounding his character Luke Skywalker after comments he made about being out a job in reference to filming wrapping up on Episode VIII. "I meant 'out of work' because #Ep8 is wrapping soon OK? #DontOverThinkEVERYTHING #ParsingHamill #WaitForVIII," he wrote on Twitter at the time to clear the air.
