"I just don't know when it's going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity," he continued, noting the differences between big budget Hollywood fare and his usually smaller priced independent titles.

Refn when asked which character he had in mind for a film responded, "What ones are left? You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let's get Warner working on it."

Currently Warner Bros., who owns DC Comics, has no plans on featuring Batgirl in a standalone film however, interest in more female superhero's has increased at the studio following the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which featured the well-received appearance of Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot.
