The event was held at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas, where the Barton Hills Choir serenaded attendees with a rendition of the film's theme song "Don't You (Forget About Me)" prior to the screening.
Directed by John Hughes and co-starring Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Anthony Michael Hall, The Breakfast Club premiered in 1985. A fully remastered version of the motion picture debuted at Monday's event.
The Breakfast Club tells the story of five stereotypical high school students who form an unlikely bond after meeting in detention. While speaking at the screening, Ringwald, who played the "spoiled, rich girl" Claire Standish, said she recently watched the film with her teen daughter Mathilda.
"She felt that I had too many expectations on her," said Ringwald, adding that her daughter most identified with Hall's character, "brainiac" Brian. "It was this incredible moment where I realised I was the parent," said the actress.
