'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' is the No. 1 movie in the U.S., Canada

The third and final installment in the epic saga earned an additional $21.9 million between Friday and Sunday.

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is the No. 1 movie in North America for a third consecutive weekend, Rentrak announced.

Starring Richard Armitage, Martin Freeman and Orlando Bloom, the third and final installment in the epic saga earned an additional $21.9 million between Friday and Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 at the U.S. and Canadian box office is Into the Woods with $19.1 million, followed by Unbroken at No. 3 with $18.4 million, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death at No. 4 with $15.1 million and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb at No. 5 with $14.4 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Annie at No. 6 with $11.4 million, The Imitation Game at No. 7 with $8.1 million, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 at No. 8 with $7.7 million, The Gambler at No. 9 with $6.3 million and Big Hero 6 at No. 10 with $4.8 million.
