'Star Wars' sequel finishes principal photography; gets a title

Director J.J. Abrams recently wrapped principal photography on the eagerly awaited sequel in England.

IVER HEATH, England, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- The seventh installment in the Star Wars film franchise will be called The Force Awakens, the movie's website said Thursday.

Director J.J. Abrams recently wrapped principal photography on the eagerly awaited sequel in England.

Details of the plot remain shrouded in secrecy. What is known about the film is that it will feature the return of fan favorites Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia -- played by Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher respectively -- as well as the non-human characters R2D2, Chewbacca and C3P0 -- played by Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels.

New additions to the cast include Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita N'yongo, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and Andy Serkis.

The movie is set for release Dec. 18, 2015.
