LONDON, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Star Wars veteran Warwick Davis has confirmed he will appear in the seventh installment of the epic space saga, which is in production now and due in theaters December 2015.
A video clip posted Thursday on StarWars.com shows an eager Davis waiting by the phone for a call from filmmaker J.J. Abrams about joining his fellow former co-stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher for the sequel.
When the phone finally rings, Davis -- who played the Ewok Wiket in Return of the Jedi -- is initially coy.
"Would I like to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII? Uh, let me think about it," he said, placing Abrams on hold and screaming, "Yes!"
Resuming the call, he tells the director: "Just got to check the diary. ... Yeah, I'll be right there. May the force be with you."
Hanging up the phone, Davis yelled, "Yes!" again before a message crawled along the video screen, declaring, "Warwick Davis will return to that galaxy far, far away for Episode VII in 2015."
Davis later took to Twitter to thank his well-wishers for their support.
Wow! I am overwhelmed to hear how pleased you all are that I'm going back to that famous galaxy, far, far away... Thank you @starwars #JJ
