Will Ferrell says Magatu will return for 'Zoolander 2'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Will Ferrell will reprise in role as fashion mogul Jacobim Mugatu in the upcoming sequel of the 2001 comedy Zoolander, Zoolander 2.

Ferrell made the announcement in an interview published on Joblo.com Thursday, where the actor said the character was definitely included in the sequel's script.

"We are actually supposed to do a read-through of a sequel script soon, and Mugatu is a part of it," he said.

Ferrell's announcement comes one month after Justin Theroux confirmed he was working with Ben Stiller (who directed and starred in the original film) on a sequel.

"Yeah, we've got a script for the sequel, and we've just been in talks again," Theroux told Vulture. "We're trying to sharpen it and hone it and, actually, I don't want to jinx anything, but it looks like it actually might be starting to get up and running."

Zoolander follows a fashion model at the end of his career (Stiller) who is brainwashed to kill the prime minister of Malaysia. The sequel will find Stiller's character Derek working as a model again, but sees him facing a challenge when a company tries to take him out of the business.
