NASHVILLE, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Miranda Lambert has been cast in her first theatrical film.

The 30-year-old singer will star alongside four other women in Something in the Water. The movie is a comedy written by music video director Trey Fanjoy and screenwriter Cindy McCreery, and Fanjoy also hopes to direct the feature.

The story has been likened to Bridesmaids meets Steel Magnolias, and follows five women who challenge their men to a bass fishing competition.

Lambert and Fanjoy have collaborated on a number of the singer's music videos, including "Kerosene," "The House That Built Me" and "Somethin' Bad" with Carrie Underwood. Lambert won Female Video of the Year at the 2014 Country Music Television Awards for her Fanjoy-directed "Automatic" music video.

"With over a dozen award-winning collaborations with Miranda, I've no doubt Trey's transition into features will be equally successful," Lambert's manager, Marion Kraft, said.

Lambert released her fifth studio album, Platinum, in February.
