LOS ANGELES, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Woody Allen is not expected to attend Hollywood's Golden Globes ceremony in January to collect his lifetime achievement award, Deadline.com reported.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which bestows the Globes, decided to honor Allen with its Cecil B. Demille Award, even though the notoriously spotlight-shy writer-director wouldn't commit to accepting it in person, the entertainment industry trade website said.

"There is no one more worthy of this award than Woody Allen," the HFPA said in September when announcing Allen as the Demille Award's recipient. "His contributions to film-making have been phenomenal, and he truly is an international treasure."

Allen's critically acclaimed drama "Blue Jasmine" is expected to be nominated for numerous awards this season.
