"We need to be watching each other's backs and standing up for each other," Sutherland, 27, told the Times. "There's no good reason why somebody who's lived to 60 or 70 should be jacked on the street in broad daylight. Our society should just not work that way."

Sutherland said he was leaving an audition at Seattle Center when he heard a woman screaming, and then saw a man running with something his hands.

"Kind of before I knew it, I was running," Sutherland told the newspaper, adding he also called 911.

He said after about 15 minutes, he saw the suspect ditch the woman's wallet, so he picked it up and returned it to the woman.

Sutherland has appeared in TV's "Grimm" and in the film "Fat Kid Rules the World."
