BOULDER, Colo., March 28 (UPI) -- Malcolm McDowell and Dean Cain have signed on to "Mind's Eye," a sci-fi psychological thriller being produced and shot entirely in Colorado this spring.

The movie's producers said it is based on an original screenplay by Mark Daniels. It is being helmed by Colorado director Mark Grove and will be released in 3D.

The story explores the "collapse of space and time through the eyes of Mattie Carver, a young high school musician," a synopsis said.

Izzie Steele has been cast in the role of Mattie.

McDowell will play an unpredictable orchestra director and Cain will play an insecure science teacher who unravels the mysteries beneath a series of strange, inexplicable events.

"These are outstanding actors who are both well-known to sci-fi audiences," producer Meryem Ersoz said in a statement Monday. "Malcolm McDowell has a magical, wizard-like quality and will bring that essence to the film. And Dean Cain has a terrific screen presence. He will bring the right mix of strength and vulnerability to his character."

Ersoz also praised Boulder as "a beautiful, under-photographed place."

"No one has ever recognized its gothic possibilities in a film before," the producer said.
