Tom Hanks set to be Oscar presenter

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks is to be a presenter at the upcoming 83rd Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, organizers said.

The announcement was made Tuesday by telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer.

Hanks, a governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, won consecutive Oscars in 1993 and 1994 for his leading performances in "Philadelphia" and "Forrest Gump." He also was nominated for his leading roles in "Big," "Saving Private Ryan" and "Cast Away."

Hanks recently lent his voice to the character Woody in Best Picture nominee "Toy Story 3."

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and televised live on the ABC Television Network.
