NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- One of the most popular movies this century, "Almost Famous," directed by Cameron Crowe, was released Sunday as a Best Buy exclusive, industry officials said.
The film debuted on Blu-Ray in its "Untitled Bootleg" cut, the New York Post reported.
"Almost Famous" did not do well at the box-office when it was first released in 2000, but it has developed a loyal following since then, the Post reported.
The movie is Crowe's autobiographical story of a teen rock fan in 1973 who follows the band Stillwater (a combination of the Allman Brothers and Led Zeppelin) in 1973 to write a cover story for Rolling Stone magazine, the Post said.
"It's the one movie I've done that I hear about the most. Wherever I am, it seems, somebody comes up and says something about (the movie)," Crowe, 53, said. "Often it's a buttoned-down business type who looks like somebody's accountant uncle, who takes you aside and says wistfully, 'I followed Deep Purple to 25 cities in the early '70s. (The movie) is my life.' And we have a moment talking about music, and vinyl. It's the reason I made the movie."
