Bradley Cooper's dad dies at 71

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Charles Cooper, the stockbroker father of U.S. actor Bradley Cooper, has died following a long illness, People.com reported Tuesday. He was 71.

The cause of his death last Saturday was not disclosed.

People.com said Renee Zellweger, the actor's longtime girlfriend, skipped Sunday night's Golden Globes Awards ceremony to be with him.

Cooper is best known for his work in "The Hangover" and "The A-Team."
