Casting for the U.S. production has not yet been announced, the BBC said.
Whoopi Goldberg, the film's star, appeared in the West End production during the summer.
Performances of the Broadway production are to begin
in March, with opening night set for April 20, the BBC said.
Like the film, the musical is about a lounge singer who hides out in a convent after witnessing a mob slaying.
