LOS ANGELES, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Aretha Franklin, the "Queen of Soul," believes Halle Berry would be a good choice for a movie based on her autobiography, "From These Roots."

Denzel Washington is her choice for her father, the Rev. C.L. Franklin, The Detroit News reported.

Franklin said Friday she has discussed the project with Washington, now starring in New York in the August Wilson play "Fences." She described him as interested in the role.

Veteran actress Nia Long is Franklin's choice for her sister, Erma Franklin, best known for the song "Piece of My Heart" and Terrence Howard, who physically resembles Smokey Robinson, would play the R&B singer.

The project is still a long way from becoming reality. Representatives say Franklin is going over a script, and the film does not have financing.
