LOS ANGELES, July 14 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Sam Trammell is to play a sheriff in the indie crime thriller "Guns, Girls and Gambling," his publicist confirmed Wednesday.
Co-starring Christian Slater, Gary Oldman and Dane Cook, the movie is about the search for a priceless American Indian artifact stolen during a poker game at a Native American casino.
The film was written and is being directed by Michael Winnick. Freefall Films is producing and financing the project.
Trammell can currently be seen playing bar owner Sam Merlotte on HBO's "True Blood," which was recently renewed for a fourth season.
The actor's other credits include the film "AVPR: Aliens vs Predator -- Requiem" and the Showtime series "Going to California." He also earned a Tony nomination for his lead role in the Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's "Ah, Wilderness."
