Penn charged in '09 photog scuffle

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles City Attorney's office says it charged Sean Penn with two misdemeanors Friday in connection to a 2009 scuffle the actor had with a photographer.

Penn, 49, won Academy Awards for his work in "Mystic River" and "Milk."

He is accused of kicking a paparazzo and breaking a camera Oct. 12 when the man tried to snap his picture on a residential street in Brentwood, Calif.

Penn was charged with one count of battery and vandalism and is to be arraigned March 22, People.com said.
