Ryan O'Neal headed to '90210'

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Ryan O'Neal has signed up for a recurring role on the television series "90210," sources told EW.com exclusively.

The "Paper Moon" and "Love Story" star will play the movie star father of Trevor Donovan's character, Teddy, in several episodes starting in April, the report said.

O'Neal, 68, has made headlines in recent months as he cared for -- then mourned the loss of -- his longtime companion, actress Farrah Fawcett, who died of cancer June 25.
