WWE SummerSlam coming to Boston in 2020

Aug. 8 (UPI) -- WWE announced on Thursday that its annual SummerSlam event will be taking place at the TD Garden in Boston on Aug. 23, 2020.

WWE has set dates for a number of other shows also taking place at TD Garden around SummerSlam 2020 including Smackdown on Aug. 21, 2020, NXT TakeOver on Aug. 22, 2020 and Monday Night Raw on Aug. 24, 2020.

"SummerSlam attracts fans from all across the world, and we are excited to welcome them all to our city for this hallmark WWE event," Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said in a statement.

SummerSlam, an extravaganza second only to WrestleMania, takes place every August. SummerSlam 2019 will be aired live on the WWE Network and pay-per-view on Sunday from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Main event matches for this year's SummerSlam include Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton, Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch vs. Natalya, Trish Stratus vs. Charlotte Flair and Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler.
