Adam Levine: I can't 'confirm nor deny' Super Bowl rumors

Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine says he can't "confirm nor deny" rumors about the next Super Bowl.

The 39-year-old singer smiled on Friday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show as he addressed reports Maroon 5 will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

"It's a rumor," Levine told host Ellen DeGeneres. "I can neither confirm nor deny the truth of this rumor. It's definitely a rumor and the rumor's a rumor that everyone seems to be discussing."

"It's the Super Bowl. It's a great event and there's going to be a band... or an artist of some kind performing at halftime. It's gonna great regardless of who it is," he said. "Whoever is lucky enough to get that gig probably is going to crush it!"

The "Girls Like You" singer playfully hypothesized about Maroon 5 performing.

"If it were me, I'd be excited. I'd be nervous. It's like a million, bajillion people [watching]," he said. "So if I were doing it, which I can't confirm or deny I am, I would be excited."

Variety reported in September Maroon 5 will perform during the Super Bowl LIII, which takes place Feb. 3 in Atlanta, Ga. Maroon 5 and the NFL have yet to officially confirm the news.

"It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with [longtime sponsor] Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show," an NFL rep said at the time.

Levine and Maroon 5 last released the album Red Pill Blues in November 2017. The group is known for such singles as "This Love," "Moves Like Jagger," "Sugar" and "Don't Wanna Know."
