WASHINGTON, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Dolph Ziggler defied the odds and earned one more shot at AJ Styles' WWE Championship Tuesday on Smackdown Live.

The Showoff became the new No.1 contender for Smackdown's top prize after he defeated Intercontinental Champion The Miz, Dean Ambrose and the Wyatt Family's Luke Harper in a grueling Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match in the main event.

The bout was made after The Miz verbally confronted Styles during his talk show Miz TV about being a more dominant champion. Soon a fight broke out between The Miz, Ambrose, Ziggler and Harper after the self-proclaimed Hollywood A-lister claimed he should be the No. 1 contender.

As usual The Miz was all talk and no action as he was the first one eliminated after he was rolled up for the three count by Ambrose.

The Lunatic Fringe and Ziggler then had to work together in order to take Harper out who was dominating most of the match. The towering foe was dispatched after a finishing move combo of consisting of Ziggler's Superkick and Ambrose's Dirty Deeds.

Down to the last two, Ziggler and Ambrose battled it out in a rematch from their SummerSlam confrontation until The Miz, angry at his previous elimination, interfered in the match and gave Ziggler the opening to nail Ambrose with a Superkick for the three count.

Afterwards, Ziggler stared down Styles who was seated ringside providing commentary. The two will meet with the WWE Championship on the line on the Dec. 27th edition of Smackdown Live.

Also waiting to challenge Styles is unlikely Superstar James Ellsworth who before the show's start, explained to Smackdown head honcho's Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan that he was unable to compete that night due to illness.
