LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Alicia Silverstone has gone nude for PETA's new anti-wool campaign.

"I'd rather go naked than wear wool," the tagline for the ad reads that is set to appear soon near Times Square in New York City.

The image features the Clueless star showing off her bare backside inside a lush forrest as she carries a plastic sheep's mask.

PETA also shot a promotional video for the ad where Silverstone explains why she is against wearing wool.

"Wool in general has not been thought about by many, many people. It's just not something that's really brought to their attention," she explains.

"The biggest thing that people always say to me is, 'Oh, but they just shear the sheep; they don't kill the sheep.' Shearing isn't like, 'Oh, let me just take your hair off because you need to give me your coat.' It's not like that," the 40-year-old continues before detailing the violent process that takes place in order to get wool.

"It's like on the slaughterhouse floor where there's a conveyer belt and it's going that fast. It's just so fast, the shearing process. They're cut. They're harmed. They get very seriously wounded, and there's no care for them when they are wounded. It's just, 'Move onto the next.' These are not creatures to the people who are doing this; they're just objects."

Silverstone is the latest celebrity to star in an ad for PETA following in the footsteps of Pamela Anderson, Taraji P. Henson, Khloe Kardashian, Eva Mendes, Olivia Munn, Pink and Penelope Cruz among others.

Recently, TV Land picked up a new 1970s set dramedy series titled American Woman that is set to star Silverstone alongside Mena Suvari and Jennifer Bartels.
