LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Tika Sumpter is pregnant and expecting her first child.
The 36-year-old actress announced the news while promoting her new movie Southside with You with executive producer John Legend.

"Preggers and promoting w Legend. Happy and proud," she wrote on Instagram. The star followed up with a photo of her baby bump, writing, "Grateful. Happy. Complete."
Southside with You is inspired by President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama's first date, which took place in Chicago in 1989. Sumpter stars as Michelle, with Parker Sawyers as a young Barack.
"It really has been so easy, you know, and fun," the actress, who is expecting a baby girl, said of her pregnancy to Entertainment Tonight.
"This is like a gift to my daughter," she added of the movie, which opens Aug. 26. "You can really do anything you want to do and be great at it."
Sources told People that Sumpter is "super happy" about the pregnancy and expected to give birth this fall. The actress is known for playing Candace Young on Tyler Perry's The Have and the Have Nots, which airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
