The original, Broadway ensemble for the now 13-year-old show starred Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth and Joel Grey.

Stephen Daldry is to helm the film adaptation of the musical, which is based on Gregory Maguire's novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West -- an alternative telling of L. Frank Baum's classic Wizard of Oz stories.
