NASHVILLE, June 9 (UPI) -- Dolly Parton and husband Carl Dean had a special 50th wedding anniversary.

The 70-year-old singer and her longtime love celebrated the occasion by renewing their vows in a glamorous Nashville ceremony. The couple had a small, simple wedding when they married on May 30, 1966.

"How many people can say they've been married 50 years? We've made it this long, we need to do it again," Parton told Rolling Stone prior to her anniversary. "I've always wanted a big beautiful dress, the whole thing."

The "Jolene" singer wore an off-white dress designed by her creative director, Steve Summers, while Dean sported a new suit. The couple's outfits will go on display at Dollywood's Chasing Rainbows museum beginning July 1.

"If I had to do it all over, I'd do it all over again, and we did. I'm dragging him kicking and screaming into the next 50 years," the star joked of her famously reclusive spouse in a statement.

"In all honesty, the only way I was able to get Carl to do any of this in the first place was that it was a great opportunity for us to raise money for some very worthy causes," she revealed.

Parton and Dean will sell photos from the ceremony to benefit her Imagination Library charity, which promotes children's literacy. The organization was founded in Parton's hometown of Sevierville, Tenn., in 1995 and has since expanded worldwide.
