LOS ANGELES, March 31 (UPI) -- Square Enix has revealed the official release date for its long in development role-playing game, Final Fantasy XV.
The next entry in the storied series will launch worldwide for Playstation 4 and Xbox One on September 30 the company announced during a special Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event Wednesday.
Beyond the normally priced $60 retail version of the game, Final Fantasy XV will also be available in two separate collector's editions.
A Deluxe Edition will include steelbook packaging and in-game bonus items such as an extra outfit, weapon and car skin for main protagonist Noctis. An Ultimate Collector's Edition priced at $269.99 will include a hardcover art book, soundtrack, and an exclusive Noctis figurine and additional in-game items including those found in the Deluxe Edition. The Ultimate version is limited to 30,000 units worldwide.
A new trailer for the game was also released highlighting Final Fantasy XV's story, open-world and fast paced gameplay set to a re-worked version of "Stand by Me" performed by composer Yoko Shimomura and band Florence + the Machine
Other announcements during Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV included the reveal of a tie-in animated series entitled Brotherhood which will be released on Youtube leading up to the game's launch and a feature length CGI movie titled Kingsglaive starring Lena Headey, Sean Bean, and Aaron Paul. Kingsglaive will also come packaged inside the Ultimate Collector's Edition.
