Tyra Banks wears dreadlocks for post-baby debut

LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- Tyra Banks showed off a new look during her recent post-baby debut.

The 42-year-old television personality wore her hair in dreadlocks to the Simply Stylist conference in Los Angeles. The event marked Banks' first red carpet appearance since welcoming son York in January.

"My love for you is on #lock(s)," the star captioned a photo of her hairstyle on Twitter.

Banks and boyfriend Erik Alsa welcomed York via surrogate on Jan. 27. The television personality told reporters motherhood "hasn't really" changed her approach to style, adding, "My views are really tight."

"I'm on maternity leave right now, just taking a break," she told E! News. "I'm understanding delegation, understanding that I don't have to do everything to make something successful. I'm on maternity leave and Tyra Beauty is kickin' butt!"

"So I balance that and [York's] dad helps, and we go back and forth so that's good," she said of parenting duties. "Erik does about 40 percent diaper duty at night. So we're almost fifty-fifty."

Banks struggled to conceive and she previously referred to York as her "miracle baby." The television personality told fans the baby has her "fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin" in her birth announcement.

Banks announced Tyra Beauty in 2014 and has since turned her focus to the cosmetics company. She left her talk show, FABLife, in November to devote more time to Tyra Beauty and oversee "her company's other entertainment ventures."
