LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- Khloe Kardashian doesn't believe in ending a friendship once a relationship is over.

The 31-year-old reality star explained her lasting friendship with estranged husband Lamar Odom and sister Kourtney Kardashian's ex-partner, Scott Disick, in a blog post on her website Monday.

"I always say, people are in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime," Kardashian wrote. "If my relationship with someone didn't have substance anyway, we don't need to keep in touch. I don't need to stay friends with a guy I [expletive] for two weeks, LOL."

"But if it's a relationship that served a purpose in my life, like Lamar, why wouldn't I want them in my life afterwards?" she added. "Scott, too -- he was a huge part of our family and always will be. Just because you break up with someone doesn't mean you lose that connection."

Kardashian and Odom's divorce was underway when the 36-year-old former NBA star was hospitalized in October. The pair subsequently called off their divorce but are not romantic, and some have questioned Kardashian's role by Odom's side.

"I always want to feel like I can say hi to anyone I've had a relationship with if I saw them in public," she said. "I never want to go anywhere and be nervous because so-and-so is there ... And if it is awkward between us, I want to find a way to fix it. I'm not about that bad energy!"

Kardashian was on hand when Odom made his first public appearance since his hospitalization at Kanye West's Yeezy show in February. Neither she nor Odom was present, however, at Rob Kardashian's birthday celebration over the weekend.

"She was working and then she was sick and she's had a crazy [weekend]," Kardashian's mom, Kris Jenner, told Entertainment Tonight. "We had a good time and we picked a night that most of us could be in one place at the same time."

Kourtney Kardashian and Disick seem to agree that exes can still be friends. The former couple took their elder children, Mason and Penelope, to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on Friday, and attended Rob Kardashian's birthday together the next day.
