Thompson Square duo Keifer and Shawna welcome son

NASHVILLE, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Keifer Thompson and wife Shawna Thompson welcomed their first child, son Rigney, over the weekend.

The Thompson Square duo, age 39 and 37, respectively, announced the news Sunday on Instagram, telling fans, "We're so excited to be able to share this monumental day with all of you."

"We've had many wonderful things happen to us, but this absolutely tops them all," the couple wrote. "We want to thank you all for being there for us and our music and for all your support during our pregnancy ... Please say hello and welcome this big ol world, Rigney Cooper Thompson, aka #coopert."

The Thompsons have been together since 1997 and married in May 1999. The pair announced Shawna's pregnancy in August, telling People magazine, "We're been together a long time and we've done a lot of things, and we just really felt there was something missing."

"God blessed us this morning with a little 7 pound 13 oz miracle," the couple said in a statement to E! News after Rigney's birth. "It's hard to explain this kind of love. We're so overjoyed. He's already got us wrapped around his little finger."

The Thompsons signed to Stoney Creek Records in 2010 and released their self-titled debut album a year later. The country music duo, who are known for "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" and "If I Didn't Have You," last released Just Feels Good in 2013 have their third record in the works.
