HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Rapper 50 Cent has filed a lawsuit against Rick Ross over allegedly stolen music samplings from his 2003 track "In Da Club."

The recently bankrupt rapper's legal representatives say Rick Ross' latest mixtape, Renzel Remixes, features an unauthorized mix of 50 Cent's popular track.

"50 Cent's most valuable asset is the name and reputation he has painstakingly built through his Grammy-winning music, acting, and business endeavors," said co-chair Paul LiCalsi of the Entertainment and Media Litigation Group, which is representing the rapper, to Billboard.

"Our complaint alleges that Rick Ross has taken these without permission to advertise his own album, and violated 50 Cent's rights in the process, and we believe he should be held liable," he added.

The rapper is reportedly seeking $2 million from the lawsuit, which is not the first legal confrontation between the two. The "Candy Shop" artist was ordered to pay Ross $7 million in 2010 over an uploaded sex tape which allegedly featured a woman said to be the mother to Ross' child.
