LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Nick Carter and wife Lauren Kitt are indeed expecting their first child.
The 35-year-old singer and 32-year-old actress confirmed as much by learning their baby's sex on Monday's episode of Dancing with the Stars. The couple opened a giant gift box filled with blue balloons to discover they are expecting a boy.
Carter and Kitt opened up about their struggle to start a family prior to the happy reveal. The actress was pregnant before but had a miscarriage, and Carter admitted, "It's been rocky, to be quite honest with you. There's been times when we thought it wouldn't happen."
The singer dedicated his contemporary routine to "Can't Help Falling in Love" to his wife, and earned his first perfect score of the season with his performance. He and partner Sharna Burgess are the second-highest scoring couple of the season.
"My wife and I are happy to personally announce that we are pregnant," Carter said in a statement after the show. "It has been our dream to have a family together and we cannot wait to welcome our first child into the world."

Carter and Kitt have been together since 2008, and married in April 2014. The singer is best known for his work with the Backstreet Boys, and has his third solo album, All American, in the works. He and Kitt starred on VH1 reality show I Heart Nick Carter in 2014.
