NEW YORK, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Singer Demi Lovato opened up about her friendship with the likes of Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Lopez and what she hopes her wedding will be like in a new interview.

Talking to Complex magazine, the "Cool For The Summer" songstress said she and Azalea met at a Halloween party hosted by Lopez. "I was dressed as Lucille Ball and Wilmer [Valderrama] was Desi Arnaz. I'm kind of a little socially awkward when it comes to parties and going out because I feel like, unless you're going to get [expletive] up, everybody's awkward."

"Since I don't do that anymore, and Iggy wasn't drinking -- she doesn't do anything -- I was kind of like, 'Hey. I'm a big fan. I love your music,'" Lovato explained. "We started talking and it turns out that we're neighbors and we didn't even know."

The former Disney star says she and Azalea -- who has in recent months hit career-changing obstacles in the social sphere -- get along so well because "we've come out strong."

"Iggy has really gone through [expletive] and she's come out super strong and didn't let that take her down a devastating path," she explained. "There's respect there. The fact she's gone through so much and I've gone through so much and on a Friday night we can make gingerbread houses together instead of going out and drinking our sorrows away -- that's [expletive] cool."

Regarding her longtime boyfriend Valderrama, he is "very family" as far as their connection is concerned. "We have been together for almost five years now, off and on," she said. "The only times that we were off was when I was not in a healthy state of mind."

When asked about what kind of wedding she'd like to have in the future, Lovato responded with her love of "shabby chic" style. "I don't know if it would be in a barn, but I think I'd definitely want an outdoor wedding," she said. "With lights hanging in the trees."

Ultimately, Lovato's biggest dream as of late is to earn a Grammy nomination. She told the outlet: "You can't go higher than the Grammys in the music industry. That was a huge goal for this album."

A nomination, she said, would make all her work worth it. "That's what it means to me," she added. "It's literally everything. It's like the Olympics for an athlete."
