LONDON, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Comic actor Rowan Atkinson marked the 25th anniversary of his introduction of the character Mr. Bean with a trip to London's Buckingham Palace.
The iconic character -- who is known for his physical humor and reluctance to speak -- has appeared in live-action and animated TV series, as well as a movie and its sequel.
Entertainment Weekly said the 60-year-old actor rode to the palace Friday atop Bean's signature, 1976 British Leyland Mini 1000, echoing a memorable scene from the sitcom.
The car, which had an easy chair strapped to the roof for Atkinson's comfort, featured a #MrBean25 sticker on its side.
A video posted on YouTube and viewed more than 320,000 times this weekend showed the gift-packed vehicle had a police escort on motorcycles as it cruised in front of the landmark and passersby snapped photos with their phones.
