'Grease: Live' casts Aaron Tveit as Danny Zucko

WASHINGTON, July 10 (UPI) -- Fox has announced that Aaron Tveit will star as Danny Zucko in the upcoming Grease: Live set to air on Jan 31, 2016.

Entertainment Weekly reports that along with Tveit, who currently stars in Graceland and was in the film adaptation of Les Miserables, Carlos PenaVega from Big Time Rush will play Kenickie, Zucko's best friend.

The latest casting announcement is in addition to the already cast Julienne Hough, who will play Sandy, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo and Keke Palmer as Pink Lady Marty Maraschino.

Tveit, a Broadway veteran having starred in musicals Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can, should fill the role made famous by John Travolta.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, {Grease: Live} will be executive produced by Marc Platt, who worked on Wicked, while Broadway writers Robert Cary and Jonathan Tolins will write the adaptation for live television.

The live three-hour production will air on Fox on Jan. 31, 2016 starting at 7 p.m.
