NEW YORK, July 9 (UPI) -- Broadway actress Patti LuPone snatched a patron's phone on Wednesday during a performance of Shows for Days.

The L.A. Times reports that in the scene, LuPone's larger-than-life character usually enters the first row to shake a patron's hand. On Wednesday, LuPone noticed the person in the designated seat was texting, so she snatched the phone instead of shaking her hand.

The phone was returned to the patron by theater management after the show, this isn't the first time LuPone has stopped or called a patron out for cell phone usage. In 2009 LuPone stopped her performance in Gypsy to yell at a patron for using their phone during a performance.

CNN reports LuPone gets so upset by cell phone usage during shows, she has considered leaving the stage.

"I am so defeated by this issue that I seriously question whether I want to work on stage anymore," the actress said in a statement. "Now I'm putting battle gear on over my costume to marshall the audience as well as perform."
