Allen's casting phase arrives in the days leading up to the Cannes premier of his Irrational Man starring Emma Stone and Joaquin Pheonix, set to release publicly July 24.

Lively, most widely known from her role as Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl, has garnered an impressive amount of attention from Age of Adaline after its April 24 opening. The film, follows a woman who becomes ageless after surviving a car accident, earned a domestic total of almost $25 million in about two weeks according to Box Office.

Before more details of Allen's film emerge, Lively is scheduled to star opposite Jason Clarke in Marc Forster's All I See is You.
