LOS ANGELES, March 20 (UPI) -- Paula Patton and Robin Thicke and were granted a divorce Tuesday, five months after the actress filed the papers. People magazine reports the divorce will be official as of April 14.
Thicke, and Patton, 39, announced their separation in February of 2014 after 20 years together and nine as a married couple. Initially, the singer vowed to win Patton back, but he gave up months later after multiple failed attempts at wooing her-- he named his new album after her, and brought up their relationship during live appearances.
The couple has a 4-year-old son named Julian.
Thicke made headlines last week after a judge determined he and Pharrell Williams improperly drew from Marvin Gaye's 1977 hit "Got to Give It Up" for their smash hit "Blurred Lines." The recording artist were ordered to pay $7.4 million to Gaye's family.
