LOS ANGELES, March 19 (UPI) -- Gwyneth Paltrow considers herself close to the common woman.

The 42-year-old actress declared as much in an interview with CNN Money this week. Many believe the celebrity and her lifestyle website, Goop, are out of touch with the average person, but Paltrow insisted she shares key similarities with everyday women.

"I'm incredibly close to the common woman in that I'm a woman and I'm a mother," she asserted. "We all are in a physical body with beating hearts, with compassion and love."

"We are all seekers, we all want questions, we all want fulfillment, we want to live our best lives," she shared. "We want to be healthy and happy and squeeze the most that we can out of life. I think that's all women."

Goop is often criticized for including expensive and impractical items, such as a "diamond ear jacket" for $2,260. Paltrow denied the project operates on the philosophy of "I have it all, so can you," explaining, "What we try to do at Goop is to curate, to edit and to give context to things."

"We know that a woman's time is her most precious resource and we want to multitask, get a lot done," she said of the website, which features items for sale, travel guides, fitness tips and more. "What we want to do is provide the best solutions."

Paltrow sparked outrage last year by suggesting an average job is easier for working mothers than being an actress. The star subsequently dismissed her critics by saying the Internet allows detractors to anonymously "project outward [their] hatred, [their] jealousy."

Paltrow last appeared in David Koepp action-comedy Mortdecai with Johnny Depp and Ewan McGregor. The actress is scheduled for Carlos Saura-directed Pablo Picasso biopic 33 dias with Antonio Banderas, and rumored for Shakespeare in Love 2.
