LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Recording artist Ryan Adams has filed for divorce from singer-actress Mandy Moore, his wife of nearly six years.

People magazine confirmed the famously low-key couple's split, but did not report a reason for it.

"Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage of almost 6 years," the pair's publicist said in a statement to Us Weekly. "It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time."

Adams, 40, and Moore, 30, were married in March 2009 in Savannah, Ga. -- just four weeks after announcing their engagement.

Moore collaborated with Adams on his 2014 self-titled album.

The actress' film credits include A Walk to Remember, American Dreamz and Tangled.
