Kelly Rowland's mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, dies at 66

ATLANTA, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Kelly Rowland thanked fans for their love and support and asked for privacy Wednesday following the death of her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison.

According to E! News, Garrison died of cardiac arrest Tuesday in Atlanta.

"It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison. She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman --and now mother-- I am today," Rowland said in a statement. "We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time."

Rowland just recently became a mother herself as she welcomed baby Titan Jewell Witherspoon with her husband, Tim Witherspoon. on Nov 4.

Rowland and Witherspoon, her manager, married in Costa Rica in May.
