WEST LOTHIAN, Scotland, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- The Scottish woman with the pipes, Susan Boyle, officially has her first boyfriend at the age of 53. She met her American doctor beau when the two were staying in the same hotel during her recent U.S. tour.
They enjoyed a romantic dinner and he was a "prefect gentleman," she told the Sun.
"It's very early days ... but he's a very nice guy," noted Boyle, who once acknowledged that she had never been kissed.
Boyle declined to identify him in the interview because that "would be unfair on him," she explained.
The formerly frumpy Boyle rocketed to stardom when she appeared awkwardly on stage in 2009 at "Britain's Got Talent" before millions of skeptical TV audience members, then opened her mouth and the world swooned as she sang "I Dreamed a Dream."
She revealed last year that she grapples with Asperger's syndrome, and admitted that talking about her condition is "difficult."
"You always feel that eyes are on you, and people view you as different," she told the Daily Mail. "I like to see myself as someone with a problem, but one I can solve. It is definitely getting better."
She'll soon pick up the next leg of her tour promoting her sixth album, "Hope," after what her representative called a "sell-out success" in the U.S. Boyle has sold over 20 million records.
