Janet Jackson makes rare public appearance in Dubai

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Janet Jackson made a rare public appearance over the weekend.

The 48-year-old singer and husband Wissam Al Mana attended the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience Gala on Halloween. Jackson wore a simple, chic black outfit, and accessorized with a diamond Riviera necklace and snake-inspired ring. She was last spotted at the amfAR 20th Annual Cinema Against AIDS event in May 2013.

"Such a wonderful time here in #Dubai with my sis," Jackson's makeup artist, Preston Meneses, captioned a photo of himself with the singer. "

Jackson and Al Mana have been together since 2010, and announced their marriage in February 2013. The couple had wed the year before, and maintain residences in the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Jackson last released her 10th studio album, Discipline, in 2008. The singer was working with vocal producer and engineer Ian Cross on new music as of August.
